How do you get past the first gate in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion?

try sneaking up behind it and casting a spell, or hitting it with your sword. If that doesn't work, summon the skeleton, when the dremora is attacking the skeleton, throw some fire at the dremora. if that doesn't work, then you completely fail at the game.
