Bithday Message to friend. What should I say?

I am at a loss of words. I would like to send a friend of mine a birthday message through one of those ecards. This man is very special to me but he was not ready for a relationship and I was so I decided to move on. I believe he still loves me and I love him also, but we cant be together right now. To quell the pain I decided not to communicate with him, but still feel its right to send him a b-day message. Any ideas? I just want a message to send him that says I wish you the best and happy birthday but in an elegant way.
