My car is totaled other drivers fault will i get anything?

my car was totaled other driver accepts responability i still owe money on this car i have gap insurance but what i dont understand is will i be left with nothing to help me get another car . after lein holder (wachovia) is paid . and should i deal with my insurance adjuster (explorer ins) or his (aaa ins) adj is going to call me tomorrow with offer and i need a car AAA did give me 500$ for a rental but i had rental for one week used all money they gave me i live in california if this matters please help really confused and worried that i will be left with nothing but bank being paid?
