How can you tell if a wound was self inflicted or caused by someone else by the angle?

I'm writing a coroner's report for a school project. Are there certain angles that a medical examiner can determine if a cut or something was caused by the patient or an external force? What I'm trying to write in my report is that the angle was a certain degree which suggests that the cadaver was stabbed by another man.
