There is a large yellow spider making a web in my house. Could it be poisonous?

There was a medium sized spider, about the size of a quarter making a web around the chandelier in my house. It is not bright yellow, but a dull yellow color. Almost a tannish yellow. I don't usually see spiders like this, it doesn't look like an ordinary house spider; I have never seen one like this. I was going to kill it but left to get spray and when I came back, it was gone and off the web. My mom opened up all the windows yesterday because the smoke detector went off and left them open like that for a while.,I was thinking it could have come in from the woods. I live in South East Pennsylvania almost outside of Philadelphia. Do you think it could be poisonous? I'm afraid it will bite me, or reproduce leaving us with a house full of baby poisonous spiders. And my mom will freak out when she sees it.
