Straight to curl hair product thingamajigger?

So today i could have sworn i saw a commercial for a new hair styler. It could both curl and straighten hair, which isn't really anything new. But from what i thought i saw, all the girl had to do was bring the thing straight down on her hair like you would with a straightner, and when she released the hair it was curly. am i insane? or does this object exist, because if it is, what's it called? ha.
